Sorry if this is the wrong forum. I don't know where to ask how to find a designer.

I plan on making a series of ibook textbooks. I've committed to at least ten short books and then potentially a few hundred more if the idea takes off. Since the ibook/textbook program is quite new, I'm not sure where I would go to find a designer who would be able to help me make these. I've already got the outlines of each book and need someone to do the layout, graphic design, and incorporate videos on each page.

Is there a designer community out there I should post my want ad at? Any tips in making this search successful? I'm hoping Craig's List won't be my only alternative as it has been hit-or-miss for me there. Would it be unrealistic to ask for a sample ibook given how new the authoring program is? Are there any special qualities or qualifications I should look for?

If it matters, I'm located in Southern California and would ideally want someone close to me (though the designer would be working from home) and I'm looking to pay $15 per hour.

Earth.
We can help.

iBooks Author is so new, I'm not sure you're going to find many that have hung out their shingle as "iBooks developers." But you can find those who have already published iBooks with other tools, or designers that are comfortable working with online media.

My company, Novel Idea, has been on the cutting edge of online design since the web was new. We coded our first site using Notepad, for Dreamweaver and Fireworks were just a gleam in Macromedia's eye back then. I've written two books on Flash, and we have an extensive background in mobile development and online design. We're already working in iBooks Author, and will be happy to help you with your project.

There is a website that offers a similar (but more customisable) program to the part of iPhoto that allows you to design and have a book printed. Part of the site is an area where people can register as experts who can design the book for you, complete with examples. If you looked through some of those to find ones you like, maybe also looking out for experience with web design and other interactive graphics i'm sure you could approach one of them and get great results.

Still in need for an iBooks Author Specialist?

Good day! This message is for the thread starter and for those who are looking for an iBooks Author writer/specialist/designer/editor.

I am an iBooks Author Specialist and have done several interactive iBooks via iBooks Author and HTML5. I specialise in interactive widgets to ensure readers have a unique and unforgettable experience while reading the iBooks. I won't be boring you with stuff about me and instead, offer you the ff.:

- iBooks formatting and design
- Interactive Widgets include but not limited to:
> quizzes
> checking attentiveness
> interactive "games"
> interactive lessons (clickable & changing depending on user's selection)
> I also offer create your own story design board (for short novels or lessons that require a more personal and user-dependent information)
> drawing boards

- iBook Cover (design will be subjected to approval)
- 3d version of the cover (for marketing in your social media preference or website)

For questions and/or more information, please do not hesitate to send me a message or hire me. I will ensure 100% satisfaction for every project.

I would be okay to work within your budget. Just send me a message to negotiate the price especially if you want a fixed rate (to ensure you remain within your budget).:)

Thanks and best regards
Joy

Waitaminnit.

You want to see a portfolio, but can't pay?

If you want to see a portfolio, then I want to see your wallet.

Hmmm. I don't like the look of your wallet.

Guess you don't get the job.
