what if you travel and go to an are with less congested towers. Are you still throttled? AT&T still feeding us the BS. There would be less uproar if they throttled at 3gigs. They are not worried about congestion if they are offering data plans higher than the ceiling of the throttling point. AND if they are actually worried about congestion, then the people on the 5gig plan are getting screwed. I have not been throttled, but if i'm traveling and lose my way and need internet to find me way around and get throttled i am going to be pissed.
This isn't about congestion. It's about getting people to switch off of the old unlimited plans. It's like the theory that a casino has to have enough cash on hand for every chip on the floor. AT&T should be able to handle as much as data as they sell. So if they have 100 customers on the 3GB plan they should be able to handle it if those people collectively use 300GB in a month. I have nothing to back this up, but I tend to believe that the total of underused data is more than the total of data over 2GB used by people on unlimited plans.
