I had this issue with my 2011 iMac, took it back to the store, same problem with the second iMac. Purchased an Airport Extreme router and haven't had any problems since.

For those who are experiencing this error on their MBP/MBAs, etc... a workaround that worked for me was to go into Sys Preferences, Network, Wifi/Advanced, and remove all networks from that list. Turn off Wifi, Turn it back on, and go to your network of choice.

From that point on, after waking up from sleep, my MBP always went to the right network.

It's about freaking time. (although I mostly inky had the problem in reboot)

Finally!!!

It took 3 phone calls to Apple to figure out what was going on. One suggested I switch to WPA2 security, which more or less fixed my late 2009 iMac's wifi issue, but now all iPod Touches and iPads on my network drop the connection every 10 minutes (basically transferring the issue i had with my iMac).

Hopefully this issue will permanently fix the issue and I can go back to WEP...

Yes finally! Had this problem for a while and was looking for ages for an answer for this. I have an 27" iMac 3,4 i7 mid 2011. Just did the update and hope it solved the issue!

I emailed this issue to Tim Cook and promptly got a phone call from a customer service rep on his behalf. Of course they couldn't do anything but eventually the support boards solved the issue by reverting the kext back to the snow leopard version. Glad they finally came out with an official fix for this because it was a really PITA

I seemed to only have this problem on the macs that connected to the 5gz band so I'll be happy to update for that.

Why would one choose WEP over WPA/WPA2? Oh, nevermind. I infer from your post that your iPod Touches/iPads are dropping the connection when it's secured with WPA2 but they didn't drop the connection when it was secured with WEP? That's strange.

Could anyone post their post-update driver versions for the WiFi module? Mine didn't change after the update. And the WiFi became completely unusable (drops signal after 3-5 seconds - it is stil connected but no data is coming through). My current driver versions on the 27" iMac 2011 are:

Code:
 Software Versions:
  CoreWLAN:	2.1.2 (212.1)
  CoreWLANKit:	1.0.2 (102.2)
  Menu Extra:	7.0.2 (702.1)
  configd plug-in:	7.1.2 (712.1)
  System Profiler:	7.0 (700.3)
  IO80211 Family:	4.1.2 (412.2)
  WiFi Diagnostics:	1.0.1 (101.1)
  AirPort Utility:	6.0 (600.92)
  Interfaces:
en1:
Card Type:	AirPort Extreme (0x168C, 0x9A)
  Firmware Version:	Atheros 9380: 4.0.61.5-P2P

What I've noticed on my iMac which has the wifi in sharing mode so its like a hotspot for my iDevices. Every time I reboot for an update or what not, the wifi comes up in the wrong mode, most of the time. If I flip it off/on then sometimes it fixes it, lately it don't. I have to go into sharing, cycle internet sharing off/on. Then its fine until the next reboot.

I applied this update, didn't help that issue. But maybe it don't address this issue. Oh well.

That's lucky, only 7 months late...

Quite frankly a silly issue that should have been sorted a matter of days after Lion was released. Never had the issue until 10.7.3, but truly the most annoying problem that I've had with my Mac.

Now, are they going to fix Spotlight too?

Thank goodness. It happened to me again just last night.

It changes the firmware version from 4.0.61.4-P2P to 4.0.61.5-P2P.

All this Wi-Fi problem crap is just strannnnge. I'm on a late 2009 iMac. I had Wi-Fi dropping while using it and not working after sleep from the day I got 10.7. Then when my old Airport Express died about 3 months ago and I replaced it with a new one....Lion worked perfectly. It's weird that buying another one of their products (Granted my original AX was like 9 years old) would fix it...just plain weird.

But it's good to see Apple releasing a patch. 7-8 months late.....and still doesn't openly admit to the Wi-Fi dropping other than the wake after sleep issues. A travesty overall that is how Lion will be remembered.

Glad to see this finally. I didn't start having trouble until installing 10.7.3, then it just wouldn't connect from sleep.

Tip: Don't freak out if you update and then it doesn't recognize your wireless keyboard. Took about half a minute for it to find mine again, then all was good.

The update doesn't touch anything related to Bluetooth, at all...

about time!!

I had called my DSL carrier a number of times..no improvement, then I called Apple even more times because of the connectivity issue….no mention of a glitch, but I told them it only started to happen after installing Lion OS.
Feel let down by Apple…they could have told me help was on the way…was led to believe my modem was at fault…(brand new, btw).
All is well that ends well, I guess…..
