Whats the Consensus on iPad memory sizes? 16, 32 or 64

Now that the ipads have been in the wild for a few years I was wondering what the collective commuinty thinks about the 3 different sizes of memory available for the systems. Has anyone here has ever regretted getting a 16gb ipad or felt like they overpaid for a 32 or 64 ipad because the never filled them up?

I have owned a 32gig iPad and I have never really come close to topping it out. Im getting an iPad3 and was thinking of getting a 16gb version, and wondered with all the Cloud apps and music programs it seems 64 is way overkill for a majority of us and the cost especially if you upgrade each year might not seem worth it.

What have you iPad 1 and 2 users think? Have you filled your systems to capacity? and what size iPad 3 are you going to get this time around?

Most of us can live with 16 GB.

I will most likely get the 32 GB myself. If I had to get a 16 though, I'd just scale back accordingly.

Consensus? Buy what you need.

Buying a capacity size because it's what someone else needs seems strange.

Agreed, there is no consensus. I have a big iPod, no need to store music on the iPad so I will probably get a 16GB. I hope I don't fill it up and regret it though... but then if a more spectacular one comes out next year I might want to upgrade, so no big deal.

Seeing as you can't expand the storage after the fact you should get as much as you think you might need up front.

Also keep in mind that due to formatting / os footprint / and the conversion from GB to actual bytes (base 2 to base 10) you don't get 16GB with a 16GB iPad its more like 12-13GB.

Consensus is irrelevant. Buy what you need/want.

Nope. No regrets buying the 64GB iPad2. Again, the opinions of others don't matter. My opinion doesn't matter unless your needs/wants are identical to my own. Again, buy based on what you need/want. Polling others is not the way to determine what's best suited for you.

I bought a 32 GB but have only used 5 GB. Will buy a 32 GB again. Would rather err on the side of too much than not enough.

For me always 64 GB; it was until know enough; but for safety reason I will not buy less. But I also don't think 128 are required; now with all the re-load clouds ...

I have the original iPad in 16GB and constantly have to delete apps to make room for new. I'm going to upgrade this time, but not 100% sure on the size yet. Might order both 32 and 64 and take back whichever I decide against.

If you want to keep all of your media with you then I could see it. I have 64GB iPhone with about 35GB of ~57GB of available used by music alone. Toss in a dozen movies at 2.5GB a piece and a season or two of your favorite TV show and you're already well over 64GB.

And that doesn't even take into account photos or how big some iPad apps are.

I just have and see no need for that much media to be carried around with me. Do you live in a big city? I cant imagine wanting to watch a movie on the iPad either.

I don't personally need it, but I get it. I load up movies on my iPad every time I go out of town.

Everybody's needs vary though.

Now that I've had a moment to let it all sink in, I won't be upgrading from my iPad 2. The only thing I'd be getting is better resolution when what I really want is a 128gig hard drive. Since I'm sure the screen is not what will be upgraded next time(iPad 4?) I'm sure more memory has to be next.

There's no consensus, but there is a vocal minority saying 16GB is not enough for anyone. I know family and friends who find 16GB more than enough, so don't rule it out outright.

My take is that 32GB will need to be minimum because by the time developers has gotten their sticky finger into the retina display and increased processing power we'll see apps binging on the device' capacity.

Well, your needs are different. Obviously you wouldn't even want to watch a movie on the iPad.

I wouldn't have said this with iPad 2, but I feel 64GB is almost mandatory given the size of the assets in apps to drive the new resolution

Games running at native rez will be large...
