For those of you here who have preordered online for in store pickup, what time will you be arriving at the Fifth Avenue store? Will you arrive before 8am, or will you wait until the crowds die down somewhat and pick it up in the evening (say around 6pm or 7pm)?

Sure thing, but idk how to save you a spot since you don't have a chair next to me. Try buying a regular beach chair for 15 dollars and place it next to me.

If you're serious, I'd be happy to pitch up much earlier and bring coffee, food etc and give you a chance to stretch your legs, go to the toilet etc.

Won't those people behind you get pissed off though?

Right now there's no one here but tomorrow there will be, so come soon. That sounds great, especially the toilet and coffee idea.

8:00 am Release

I was looking through the Mac Store app to look for clues on iPad release times; all NYC stores read "Come in at 8:00 am to buy yours."

I guess I'll show up at 4:00am to SoHo or 14th--anything but the 5th Ave. Does that seem too late to have a real chance? Wish I knew how many each store would be receiving.

I just got the email saying my order is ready for pickup, made me all happy inside. :D I'm actually going at 11:30-ish, only because that's when school's out for me. Hopefully the crowds aren't too bad and I'll be able to get it quickly. I'm in an intense time crunch -- afterwards I need to charge, sync, do everything in time to be at the airport at 7:16 x_x That doesn't give me much time.

I'm planning to be at the store at around 4am, hopefully that will be before the big rush...

But what NYC store should I go to? Which one have the most iPads and shortest lines? I'm going back to Norway at saturday, so I only have one chance...

Crap photo, but there's about 60 or so queuing outside as of just now (7.25pm).

All the guys in yellow are from Otterbox handing out branded blankets!

Nice but lol

For some reason I'm thinking the availability will be similar to how they handled the 4s. It'll sell out the first weekend but will be available if u check back every now and then. There really wasn't any major component on the shipping end for this to be sold out.

This is evident in the fact that it took a couple of days to sell out online as opposed to a few hours with the iPad 2 launch. I was holding off on this one since I have the 2 but after i0nic tweet showing iOS 5.1 jailbroken I just might pick it up.

Well, I decided not to go wait in line... But now I'm kinda regretting it. If I decide to get out tomorrow morning around 4am, think I'll have a chance?

What about Saturday morning? Suggestions on getting one sometime this weekend?

For anyone who is at the Fifth Avenue store right now, what's the line like? How many people do you estimate are in line? I don't think it will be as crowded as people are thinking it will be tomorrow.

Apple Store SoHo had 35 people in line at 00.30.
