iCloud Backup Restore Taking A Long Time

It's the amount of junk you're floating to the cloud. I would suggest switching to iTunes backup if you don't want to wait.

Yes, local backup/restore is always going to be speedier than cloud backup/restore.

iCloud backup is great for everyday use and disaster recovery, but for a planned migration do it locally if at all possible.

Especially since there might be just a few other people trying to restore from iCloud today...

Not surprising, tons of people are trying to do the same thing across the world, iCloud is probably insanely bogged down with iPad restores right now. Patience young grasshopper!

They should borrow Dropbox's idea and copy over the LAN if there happens to be another device on there which has the up to date content.

can u switch to itunes restore after starting icloud backup?
