Ok so for graduation I am either getting an iMac or a MacBook air. Both being the smaller version. Are all MacBook air 11 inch circa 2010-2011 os x 10.8 mt lion compatible? I will be buying iMac or MacBook used and just want to know witch one to buy used and which to buy new. As in I will upgrade them to os x mt lion. Thanks

Anything from the 2010-2011 batches should be fine, but if you get a MacBook Air, make sure it's got more than 2GB of RAM. While it will still work, you'll likely have a better experience, and if it's an older machine, it'll help keep it from slowing down with newer software (probably more relevant past Mountain Lion, but it will introduce new demands on the system that will make the additional RAM useful).
