Hello everyone!

I wanted to ask a question pertaining to my curiosity about replacing my current Mac Pro with these new MacBook Pros. My concern is mainly about the Ram. Currently I am using 18GB of the 800-mhz type, and need it for computer rendering. Most of the time, about 14-GB is all I need.

I am wondering that if with 8-GB of the 1333-mhz Ram, would that rival my current 18-GB? Or is capacity much more important than speed?

According to GeekBench, these Quad-Core MBP's benchmarked much higher than my Mac Pro Early 2008, 2.8-GHZ 8-Core. So it would seem that would suffice quite well.

Thank you!

You could always get the 4GB base model, and then install after market ram to get 16GB. Although I'd just wait another month or so and get a 2012 model that is rumored to be shipping any time now.
