A geek's visit to London - where to go?

Check out the vintage film memorabilia shop on Brewer St.

There are also some second-hand vinyl shops in Monmouth Street, just north off Seven Dials, not far from Covent Garden. There is also Camden Market which is worth checking out on Sundays for records, t-shirts and other bits and pieces.

No probs. Another large record shop I just remembered this morning which I used to pass quite often is Haggle Vinyl at 114 Essex Road, just a couple of minutes north of Angel Islington. Jump on a 73 bus from Marble Arch/Oxford Street/Tottenham Court Road towards Kings Cross and it's about 30 mins or so from there.

Just off Notting Hill Gate, on the left-hand side of Pembridge Road, just before Portobello Road heading north is a comic/film toy/model/collectibles shop with a large collection of bits and pieces. Lots of Batman memorabilia upstairs. I forget its name, it might be Mimi Fifi, but if it's not then its on the same row of shops.


Probably my favourite is Playlounge at 19 Beak Street, just off Carnaby Street with some really fab and unique Japanese small robots, kinetic toys and collectibles from various films e.g. Tim Burton films like the The Nightmare Before Christmas.

I kind of liked that inside out building in London. And Texas has an embassy there, you should check it out. Its a restaurant

Imperial War Musem, British Museum, If they still have it, a tour of Tower Bridge, where you can walk across the top. These are places I visited as a kid, which formed my geekiness

I don't know when you're going and it's not what you have in mind but I would really try to hit the new "performance art" component of the Tate Modern. That would actually be my number 1 stop in London currently.

The Imperial War museum is great, the British Museum is fantastic - I've spent days there (literally), and take a look at the Tower of London, simply amazing.

I also liked the quirkiness of the Wallace Collection, and the National gallery, as well as the Tate.

London is one of the world's great cities, and well worth losing yourself in.

There is an arcade on Goodge St called "Casino". Friday evenings there is usually a good crowd playing the newest Street Fighter and Tekken games from what I remember. A lot of classic games too.
