I'm new at this. I want to be able to digitize, rip, whatever the term is my dvd library so I can watch the movies on my Apple TV 2 and my iPad 2. I believe the format has to be iTunes compatible so I can use Airplay to watch the movies on. Can someone explain how to do this that a noob can understand or point me in the direction of a step by step article explaining it for me? I've done a couple of google searches but haven't found anything. I'm willing to pay for programs if it makes it easier. I would prefer to do the transfers on my Windows 7 desktop but if not I can use Mac programs on my MB Pro. Thanks.

Just use the Apple TV 2 preset in HandBrake and use that software if you don't want that much automation as the second link guides you to.
If you just use HandBrake, be aware, that you need VLC Player too, the first link describes that.
