Battlefield 3, medium settings, air 2012, 11, 8gb, i7, native resolution 40 fps, doing great!

Really wish I didn't see this. I've been back and forth on getting an 11" MBA (that I really do not need) and seeing this doesn't make it any easier to not buy one.

Do you play with any additional accessories?

How many FPS do you get in minecraft on everything maxed out?

On the 2012 I get 30-35, so that's plenty for me. The fans do kick up to 6500rpm in a few minutes though, but I think that would be the case no matter what settings it's on.

Not planning on gaming on my MBA, maybe just installing steam and a few indie ones. Chess also.

I've played through and tested a few games on my 2010 11" 1.4C2D/4GB/128GB. This little machine has never ceased to impress me, and it has served me so well I made it my sole computer a few months ago. I haven't completed all of the following (I'm a bit of a collector and buy games I wish I had the time to play), but have spent at least a few hours with each on my MBA. I finished Mass Effect 2 on my MBA and had no troubles at all.

OS X:
Amnesia
Bastion
Braid
Civilization IV
Darkness II
Deathspank
Diablo III
Frozen Synapse
Left 4 Dead 2
Limbo
Mini Ninjas
Portal 2
Prey
Rochard
Starcraft 2
Trine
Trine 2
Tales of Monkey Island
Torchlight
The Walking Dead

Boot Camp:
Arx Fatalis
Batman Arkham Asylum
Batman Arkham City
Bioshock
Dead Island
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Fallout: New Vegas
Fear 3
Half Life 2
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2
Max Payne 2
Oblivion
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
Thief Gold
Thief 2
Thief: Deadly Shadows
Titan Quest
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Ys Origin

Thanks for this. I may finally pull the trigger after all. :)

And my new 2012 13"/8/128 handles them all well. :D

I'm a big Dead Space fan and I'm really hoping somebody's getting good frame rates in Dead Space 2 with the HD4000. Anyone?

I play Diablo 3 and WoW occasionally on my 2010 Air (1.6Ghz 11", 4Gb RAM). Both run very well on low settings. I have set a FPS limit in WoW at 30 fps, and it usually keeps around there. The limit also keeps my CPU quite cool, the fans are barely noticeable and I'm at about 75 degrees Celsius while gaming. About the same in Diablo.

This is best for casual gaming though, as lots of enemies on-screen can cause lag. The most stressful fight yet (WoW, 25 man raid with tons and tons of spell effects and such) I had 8-10 fps when things were at its worst.

I have ordered a 2012 Air (11" with everything maxed but SSD) so I'll be very interested to see how/if the performance of these games differ.

I am pretty old school, so I installed Dwarf Fortress, Dosbox along games like Master of Orion 2 (while having Starbase Orion on the iPad at the same time...) and Master of Magic, and several roguelikes...but never had time nor bothered to play them. :/

Diablo 3 runs OK, but the heat made me feel nervous. It's so warm that made my left hand sweat. Haven't bothered with Skyrim yet.

I'm running them all with High settings, vsync on, and getting all 60 fps.

EDIT: I should mention, I'm running them with the full 1440x900 resolution too!

Which MBA do you have?

----------

Only serious game I played on my 2010 was Starcraft 2. Is gaming really worse on a 2011? Is the 2012 really only 'on par' with the 2010 in terms of graphic performance?

Anyone try DA:O yet? It's a few years old so I'm wondering how it will play in OS X and Windows.

Mine did that too. I wouldn't really worry about it too much. I guess they're just doing their job.

Capture the flag. OK not a game, but setting up a virtual network and playing in red team / blue team events on a Friday night with beer and pizza is a hell of a good time.

However I do try and get some frags in on Doom 3 and UT2004 on my Mid 2012 MBA. Not modern games by a long stretch, bus still awesome.
