Why are the specs required for a game much lower on a mac?
Just a guess, but maybe because the specs on Apples (particularly the graphics) are way below the other x64 systems one can buy.

and the first Counter-Strike release since Steam
Why this is homepage material?
The mind boggles.
Does Counter-Strike: Source not count? Because I'm pretty sure that has been out for the Mac for a while now.

Congrats on the development but really how dull is another bazillion war games? Get more creative folks.
Gaming on a mac... LOL...
Woot I've been playing the old Office map followed by DE_Nuke...So many Memories.
Dude, for some people, Counter Strike defines the internet: that's how big this game is.
Look, I'm just saying dropping $2000 on a facebook machine to play CS when you can get a better-looking PC at 10x the performance at $1000 is a gigantic waste of time and money.

If you read the title you will see that they mentioned a simultaneous release, meaning on launch day. CS:Source was released on the PC long before Steam came to the Mac platform, thus CS:Source does not count in this instance.
Most things people do are a gigantic waste of time and money.
Including posting on MR.
And especially including playing Battlefield.
Who on earth would buy a mac just to play CS? I don't think anyone here would. It's great we can play it with everyone else though
Does posting on this site require you to fork over $2000?
Apple products are cheaply made and easily breakable. Most of the money to shell over to Apple is for the brand; it's not for the (Lack of) quality.
Oh, I dunno... Macs are overpriced and weak, like all other Apple products. I don't think you can play any other good game that's been released recently. And no, Runescape isn't awesome, so don't even try to pull that one on me.

Umm... Toll...
It will run with gusto. The Intel graphics are over 2-3x as fast as the system requirements mentioned in the article. Additionally, since Source performance is mostly dependent on CPU over GPU, the i7 will absolutely shred this game.
thanks bro!!!!
I think I'll pick it up!

Not a troll. My 2011 17-inch macbook pro can barely run lowest settings TF2, a game which was released 5-years-ago.
