I presume you have iOS 6 installed? I have 10.8.2 installed and don't have this option, but I have 5.1.1 on my iPhone 4.

Yup. ADC member, has iOS 6 Beta 4 on my devices and .2 on Mac.

Yes yes NDA, yet I've rarely seen issues with people posting on info that is readily available to the public. Hope the screen shots help(ed). I've been using my phone number in Messages to text people, and it appears as if it is coming through my iPhone for receivers. Seems all is working (knock on wood). :)

I hope not. I don't need facebook integrated into my brower....

Yes, it does for "Notification Center". I know receive Facebook alerts in OS X. Of course they can be tweaked/disengaged. It's amusing, I have "MenuTab Pro" installed, so I'm receiving double alerts

The first developer build of OS X 10.8.2 arrives as Build 12C31a in the form of a 641.83 MB combo update,

I just want to weigh in with a little praise for the style of writing in this article and the 10.8.1 article on the front page;)

Can you add two different phone numbers to the same Apple ID and use them both for receiving iMessages on OSX at the same time?

Did you have to do anything to get notifications to start showing up in Notification Center? I'm signed into Facebook under accounts, and I have Facebook enabled in the Notification Center settings and nothing gets pushed through.

OS X 10.8.2 Facebook Integration. What happens if you have the Facebook Developer Preview installed on your Mac. Will it be uninstalled when the update comes?

+1, please! Would love to see this. Specifically, is it a two-way implementation? i.e. will all iMessages sent to phones (iOS) reach OS X? And do replies from Messages.app appear as outgoing/sent messages on iOS? Guess that's the dream...

This already works that way in 10.8.0 for me.

----------

Unified iMessage doesn't seem to work for me... When I enter my phone number under OS X Messages preferences, like the screenshot posted above, it says "Message", then it says "waiting to verify", and I didn't receive anything on my iPhone (the one with iMessage activated)... My phone number is a French one (+33 6 xx xx xx xx), is it related ?

Yes probably.

I installed the Facebook Developer Preview (which is a separate file, 337kb, which you probably already knew :) ), and made certain in OS X "System Preferences" that Facebook notifications would appear.

Some of you might find this interesting:

Safari
10.8.1: Safari version 6.0.0 (8356.25)
10.8.2: Safari version 6.0.1 (8356.26.7)

Open GL
10.8.1: Open GL 2.1 NVIDIA-8.0.51
10.8.2: Open GL 2.1 NVIDIA-8.0.55

I tried to install the Facebook preview but it said my system doesn't qualify. Weird. I'm running the 10.8.2 dev preview on a retina MacBook Pro...

Wait. Didn't Apple update GL to 3.2 in Lion? Why does this update say 2.1:confused:

If you are running 10.8.2 Facebook is preinstalled and you do not need to install the Facebook preview. At least that was the case for me. I never installed the standalone preview, it just comes preinstalled with 10.8.2. The preview is only for 10.8 and 10.8.1. Just go to "Mail, Contacts and Calendars" in System Preferences, make sure you are signed into Facebook, then go to "Notifications" in System Preferences and make sure your notifications are set up for Facebook.

Ah didn't know it was now included. Thanks for the correction. :)

Wait. Didn't Apple update GL to 3.2 in Lion? Why does this update say 2.1:confused:

Because he obtained the information using the compatibility setting rather than the 'core' option in 'OpenGL Extensions Viewer'. Rumour has it that Apple maybe looking at upgrading OpenGL to 4.1 soon - I am unsure how reliable that rumour is thought but it would be nice if Apple did eventually pull it off with 4.3 eventually arriving within a year. Btw, I wouldn't be surprised if the HD 3000/4000 are OpenGL 4.x compatibility because although Intel say they only support 3.x that is based on them providing the OpenGL library (which is how OpenGL is done in the Windows world) but it doesn't say anything about the hardware capability itself and whether the hardware itself can support OpenGL 4.x. It will be interesting to see what happens with 10.8.2 also given that the update is huge when compared to the puny size of the 10.8.1 update that came down the tubes recently - around 7 or so megs for my computers.

What exactly is the Facebook integration meant to give us ? All mine does is allows me to post to Facebook via the Notification Centre.

I don't actually receive any notifications..which I would have thought should be happening..

you sir, are correct. but when the browser just completely stops loading a page or the scrolling just stops working, those are pretty serious issues that should be fixed asap! :D

I've noticed those bugs. Quitting and relaunching safari fixes it but its pretty annoying. Aside from those bugs I really do like safari 6 though.

It appears that it only displays notifications if you have your Facebook account setup to send you notifications by e-mail; at least mine only started working when I turned on e-mail notifications. Not sure if this is universally the case, but is pretty annoying to get a FB notification and then an e-mail notification!

That's incredibly stupid. I assume it's a bug and will be fixed before its released to the public.
