I hacked into my phone sometime last year with ultrasn0w I believe and I'm getting ready to sell it. How can I tell if it's unlocked or not?? Would be nice to let the potential buyers know. Any help would be great.

EDIT: Actually I can't remember if it was ultrasn0w or not. Has the little skull at startup.

You have the following options:
1- Become a Hacker
2- Ask a Hacker
3- Go to a Psychic and ask for a regression session, so you remember what you did
4- Restore it and attempt to unlock it following current procedures

corrupt file don't open it! ebay you can also order any sims cheap. The sim doesn't have to be active. or you can go into another GSM carrier ask for a sim or pay as you go or other. Also if you sell local they will probably want to test it om there carrier.

Well you can exploit someome's computer with a corrupt doc file, but it'd take a fair amount of skill to do so.

Get a SIM from t-mobile and see if it works. Doesn't have to be an activated SIM. A locked iPhone will say somehting to the effect of "This iPhone can only be activated with SIM cards from the original carrier. Please insert the SIM card that came with this iPhone" while an unlocked one simply searches for the network (and eventually connects if the SIM is active).

Look at the baseband

That won't tell you anything.

Basically, if you got it from AT&T, Verizon, Rogers, T-Mobile (unless in .nl recently), Orange or O2 and never had it unlocked, it's locked. If it's from an Italian carrier, it's unlocked. If you got it from Apple and paid full price (for a 16GB, €629), it's unlocked.

Best way to tell is to try though.
