Don't forget we also get two years warranty. Apple say one year but if you complain enough they have no choice but to honour the two year warranty because it's EU law.
You don't get two years warranty. They are different things: Manufacturer's warranty (which is whatever the manufacturer offers), and statutory rights (which you get in the EU, but not in the USA, which means the _seller_ has to fix problems for roughly two years. If you buy an Epson printer at the Apple Store in London, _Apple_, and not Epson, has to fix problems for two years, because Apple is the seller. And if you buy an iPad at PCWorld, _PCWorld_, and not Apple, has to fix problems for two years, because PCWorld is the seller. )
And that's what I said: If you buy in the USA and take it to the UK, you get Apple's manufacturer's warranty, which is the same everywhere. One year. But you have no statutory rights at all, because the seller is some shop in the USA. (You would have whatever rights US law gives you against the seller, but I never heard that there are any such rights, and it doesn't help you anyway when you're in London and the seller is in Los Angeles).
