Using Photoshop CS or CS2 (or PS 7)
==================================================

1.) Download Image from http://www.quicklance.com/test.jpg

2.) Save it to computer and then open it up in Photoshop

3.) From there please apply a 'radial blur' with the settings at:

Amount = 100
Blur Method = Spin
Quality = Best

Using a stop watch / ps timer see how long it takes to apply this filter

I just want to see what mac systems can do, be it a powermac dual 2.7 or an older dual 1.8 or even an ibook.

Please list your mac system, cpu details, amount of ram and the time it took for the test, just so we can get an idea of how different mac machines handle this task.

* test adapted from a different forum *

thanks,

PowerMac G4 933Mhz SP
Photoshop CS
768MB RAM
2 Minutes 54 seconds.

Not bad, I just tested it on an iBook G3 900Mhz and it was over 6 minutes (I stopped the timer after 6min) and a Powerbook G4 867 12" and it took over 4 minutes.

Powerbook 12'

768mb RAM
CS2

Can't see why I didn't complete it faster than the 667mhz Powerbook? Maybe because it had 256mb memory more, but seemslike a massive improvement.

seems it goes pretty much with the clock speed.

pb 1.5 ghz = 150 sec

dual G5 2.5 = 50 sec.

there is almost no influence of the FSB, faster HD and so. i saw that before whem the imac g5 rev.a was compared to the pb 1.5 ghz. so for the average user all the talk about fsb, faster hd, faster graphics cards, pci-x and what not doesn't really matter that much.

my 2 cents.

iMac G5 17" - 2GHz
1.5Gb Ram
PS Elements 2 ( I wonder if it would be slightly faster if I had a newer version of Photoshop)

PowerMac G5 1.6GHz SP
512MB RAM
Photoshop CS
Dashboard, Safari, Adium and Thunderbird running.

I really need to get some more RAM, I would think mine should have been around 2:20.

I think that L3 cache really helps with stuff like this. You weren't that far off from the dual G5's.
