Is there some way to force an iOS update to my 2G iPod Touch? I use my touch almost exclusively for Spotify so I can take my music in my car, but the latest version of Spotify won't install because I don't have the latest iOS version.

Updating the iPod through iTunes seems impossible, but maybe there's a workaround?

I'm not sure if there is a workaround or not, but if there is I wouldn't recommend it. It will make you iPod so slow that it would be practically unusable.

Which iOS version do you have? The iPod touch 2G can only get up to iOS 4.2.1.

Thinking about it...

you can get around thing... if you dont care about jailbreaking go to this site http://bl4ck0ut.createaforum.com/index.php i am running this firmware it is soo fast compared to normal 4.2.1 for ipod touch 2g id recomend it. however if you like how it looks and stuff go to the next link and download it from there...
http://bl4ck0ut.createaforum.com/general-discussion/bl4ck0ut-6-0-final-google-drive-download-links/

go here from all the information on how to install and your ready to do...
http://bl4ck0ut.createaforum.com/how-to's/
then once your done watch this video http
://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZ8sipoNpMM to find out all about how to use cydia if you dont already
then add the source http://www.sinfuliphonerepo.com
then download ifile from that source and open it and go to system/irbrary/coreservises then scroll down and you see a file called SystemVersion.plist click it open with text viewer and edit it were it says 4.2.1 to 5.1 and you should be able to get the app you want. with all the extra bonuses of updating the this firmware. dont forget that if you want future updates from this site you can to sign up to stay up to date and find solutions to all your problems
if you have updated to the newest itunes you will have to downgrade to install this.
