can anyone recommend a nice case/bag that can hold both a mba 13 and ipad? i want somthing that is protective, light and can take to corporate workplace and also for travel. not looking to spend more than $50.

i like the timbuk2 quickie, stm bag or marware sportfolio but none of those look like they can fit both the air and ipad.

Exact Fit 11" Backpack

Been looking hard and long for a Precise-Fit backpack for my 11" NOT a shoulder bag, not a messenger bag, not a sleeve, A BACKPACK with 2 straps over my shoulders. It also has to fit within my 15" tall locker, no bigger. How hard is it? ..... weeks.

TIMBUK2 PISCO. It's kind of a junior size so if that's too kiddy for you, keep looking. But this bag looks good, acceptable.

usd$60. There is a 2-tone blue color.

Cons: I wish thicker material and am willing to pay, but Tumi don't make one, Swiss Gears don't make one. They don't want my $$$. Inside padding is also on the thin side, so if it bothers u, add a sleeve (purchased separately) per pictured. There is no extra padding on the bottom either, so again. But I have carried laptops with me with "normal" bags and it has never been a prob. Your mileage may vary.

TIP: ONE MOTION NOTEBOOK REMOVAL - If you are going to add a sleeve, and don't want to go through the hassle of removing the sleeve from the backpack, THEN remove the notebook from the sleeve... my WaterField sleeve (sfbags.com) has a velcro strap that when I flip it to the backside (leave it unused), it sticks to the backpack's padding, allowing a 1-Motion notebook removal. (Strap with the hook-end, not the velvet end)

Vintage MacWeek canvas tote bag!

Old thread but the only one right up the alley of this old bag.
A picture is soon to come, but I wanted to see if anyone knew who designed / drew for MacWeek magazine when it was coming out.
I got a canvas tote with inverted graphics on either side in white and black.

It was probably from the late 80s / early 90's, when it was made it couldn't have fit a mac in it but now it is PERFECT for a new Mac laptop.

Any ideas / insight?

hard wearing case or cover for the mac book air

hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I've just bought the mac book air and im trying to find a case or cover that will be able to withstand every day cycling. I commute all over london so the terrain isnt ruff but still need something that can take the vibrations and any minor knocks that come with cycling.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks sammy

I just got a Toffee bag (toffee.com.au). I got the green leather one.

I was expecting a nice bag (for the price of AUD79) but I have to say my expectations were exceeded. The leather is soft and very high quality, the stitching is noticeably excellent and the zip feels very sturdy. The only thing I would have liked was a velvet lining on the inside.

Highly recommended.

Anyone have any recommendations for a messenger bag that will look nice with a black peacoat, navy peacoat, and smoke grey peacoat? I will probably only need it to hold a 13" MBA, a couple of notebooks, and the charger. I would prefer leather, but any material will work as long as it still looks nice. I keep my MBA in a thin sleeve if that makes a difference.

I skimmed the thread, but nothing really caught my eye (I could've just missed it though) except the black Muzetto leather.

Whilst looking for a sleeve/case for my MBA, I stumbled across a site called Etsy. The site is filled with designers and manufacturers who sell their products.

After exchanging a few emails with a designer, I have just placed an order for this Wool Felt and Leather sleeve.

Image

http://www.byrdandbelle.com/product/macbook-air-sleeve-gray-wool-felt-and-brown-leather

I love the sleek design and the leather adds a touch of class. I paid £50 all in which includes delivery to UK.

It comes in a choice of colour combinations for the wool and leather. You can also ask her to change it so you can place the MBA in the long side rather than the short side. They do other cases for the MBP and iPhone too.

It looks great, how is the protection now that you have used it in a while?

Just think 38 USD is a lot to pay for delivery....

I'm impressed with the sleeve. The material is thick, so that helps to protect MBA from any knocks etc. The fit is also snug without it being too tight, so you can place it in and out the sleeve with ease. When walking around with MBA in the sleeve, it is snug enough so that there is low risk of the laptop falling out.

After having it about 2months now, the sleeve still looks in great condition.

I opted for the cheaper First Class delivery option. Think I paid about $18. Info here: http://www.byrdandbelle.com/shipping

The iPearl clear case is inexpensive, fits like a glove, adds very little weight, and even has feet for tilting the keyboard.

The Waterfield Vertigo bag (small) is just big enough to hold the 11" MBA, so I would say it is the most compact bag available for carrying it. The bag also holds my iPad, the external keyboard / incase origami workstation, and the MBA charger. That is all I need to go just about anywhere in the world!

Is the iperal case kind of satiny like the speck satin..or is it slick?
I am assuming the legs fold down too right.

And has anyone purchased a Jelli Case..I coudln't find any reviews on here

There is a youtube video at the bottom that is how I found it was on youtube

I use the Incase Campus Pack - this is for long/medium length travel

If I'm moving from one room to another I'll carry my Mac, bare
- If I'm moving say from one building to another on campus without wanting much bulk, I'll use my Incase Neoprene Sleeve

Mine is clear, slick, cheap plastic. Frankly, most people don't even know it is on my computer, and they keep asking me why my MBA has feet (they fold out and give the keyboard a perfect angle). If you are looking for something eye-popping or expensive, this isn't it.

Looking at the clear snap-on case from Speck. Does the aluminum scratch/smudge easily enough to make it worth the $30?

Just bought this bad boy.. it's for 17" Macbooks, but I still decided to buy it for my Air.

I travel almost 20 times a year, so I need a good carry-on. I have a ProStyle Courier, which is great for overnight trips and such, but for travelling, the Prostyle Wheeled Case fits my needs perfectly. Not too big, is Airport friendly, and I can fit all my accessories, along with everything I would need in my carry-on.

Looking for a slim neoprene sleeve. I love incase in general, but I found that one to be a bit fat, especially when the MBA is trying to be the slimmest laptop ever. Any alternatives?

My daughter got the Kate Spade sleeve for her 11" and it is gorgeous! Comes in turquoise, orange, and black polka dot, so it won't work for everyone :).

I was looking for an easy in/out sleeve in addition to scratch protection for my device. I opted for the Best Skins Ever shield + Incipio Orion sleeve. The fit is perfect, with the skin protecting the exposed areas. Skin ran me $23 shipped and the case $17 shipped.

Love the skin and how seamless it looks and feels. But I am curious if the skin will in anyway harm the heat dissipation of the MBA as the aluminum body was not only beautiful but also acts as a nice heat sink.
