My order from BA shipped! Hoping I get it soon. Then I can finally start using my i5!

With all the reports of scuffs I don't want to risk my naked iPhones glory by setting it down. Bummer that apple doesn't have one or a car charger for that matter.

For now my i5 sits in the box. This is one part if the puzzle. The next ones are car chargers and audio out. I guess that's why the connector is on the bottom.

Goodbye 4. Hello 5!

Goodbye 4. Hello 5!

Are you serious? You're not using the phone out of fear of setting it down? Wow.

The Flash Lightning Dock
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QxqlcyVPm5M

Supposedly the cord lights when charging/syncing, goes solid when fully charged. This + thelightningdock =
And they offer just the classic dock. Am I crazy or does that cord give meaning and purpose to our new lightning ports?

my dock only cost me 10 bucks... granted it isn't the best looking thing around
And my dock can also be built into a car lol

It's only 20 bucks? How is that considered expensive?

for something that isn't authorized and most likely badly manufactured? the dock hasn't even audio out, holes for speaker/mic or any back support.

the only "advantage" is the (still virtual) availability and the glowing gimmick imho. even the real apple cable is 20$.

the dock looks like one of these:

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/653500313/USB_Dock_Cradle_iPhone_5_5G.html

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/654855497/charger_dock_for_apple_iphone_5.html

especially the male lightning plug looks horrible.

edit: i just talked to a so called apple specialist. i asked him if he knew if apple may release a dock for the iphone 5. he told me that he is very certain that apple will release one but he couldn't tell me when. of course, lol. i'm not sure how much credit i can give to this statement.

My BA order is still in the mail. Which sucks cause they are about 30 miles away in the valley. I wish thy offered pickup. I'm sure I could have had it sooner. I will email them if I don't get it today. It's cool they shipped first but USPS sucks as a carrier.

Yes- I'm a little OCD with my naked phones. I scratched my 2G within days of getting it so I am paranoid. My 4 is naked but because its glass I think it will hold up better than aluminum.

The only thing I'm not sure of is how they say "one handed operation for dock/undock"

Will post pics when I get it. Here is a photobucket screener from their site.

EDIT - just emailed them anyways. I'm paranoid. We will see how their CS is.

Exactly. How are you guys sure that this $20 dock isn't going to fry or mess up your phone? All the other solutions I've seen uses an existing lightning dock cable to power and stand your phone.

I was going to buy this until you mentioned frying iPhones! I've never owned a third party accessory, how many docks/cables have you heard of thats fried an iPhone?

Quality third party accessories are fine, and most of the cheap knockoffs are fine as well, but the first batch of cheap knockoffs for a brand new technology? I for one will be letting others do the testing before I try any of these first run cheapo docks with connectors and other lightning accessories.

Probably sounds like a good idea, thanks. If I find out this product works great, I'll buy it immediately. I know some people considering the cable lighting up to be 'gimmicky', but I think its great. Because it stops lighting up when fully charged, I don't have to keep waking it from sleep to see if its 100%. Plus it looks cool!

This dock looks great, and it does its purpose of just holding the phone straight up which I like.

Is there any way to confirm it has a proper chip that will not break the phone? I saw a couple of days ago some 3rd party manufacturer "cracked" the code and got a lightning connector to work without any damage.

If the dock mentioned is not proven.... I am going to wait on it.

How is everyone using the lego dock method actually attaching the cable so that it stays in place?
