Phones Lumia 920 too much hype ?

I don't see how any can claim Android has a poor app selection then turn around and accept windows 8.

Nokia's design is nice, though.

I haven't explored WP8's app market, but Android has a LOT of garbage apps available (knockoffs, malware, porn, useless/incomplete, etc). The whole "who has more apps" battle between Apple, Google (and now Microsoft) is just silly... Quantity != quality.

I resent the fact that you include porn in your description of garbage apps and lack of quality.

Porn droid apps? Time to switch lol their tacky and blinking 6 inch phones would be perfect .

Definitely overhyped, in the ends its just another phone that for the most part does what every other top of the line phone does. Think its hyped from WP7 users who have been waiting for a fully fleshed out OS that can support top end hardware. In any case, Ill probably be getting one, contract is finally up next week and Ive always enjoyed the responsiveness of Windows Phones. Apps dont mean much to me, nor do games, being into rpgs isnt conducive to mobile games.

Yes, I think it's overhyped, but it's still going to be a very good phone. I'm on Verizon so the 920 isn't an option for me unfortunately.

I do agree that quality is better than quantity, but as a WP7 and soon to be WP8 user I can't say that I wouldn't mind having better app selection like Android and the iPhone. There are nice apps for WP, but the hottest apps aren't coming over very fast.

The 920 is a brick running an OS that isn't super competitive with Android and iOS. It better have some amazing hardware features, but from what I see, none really stand out. The camera isn't anything incredibly spectacular, but I would like to know how the screen is

This would be the phone I would be getting if it weren't for the Note 2.

I fear for Nokia as they need a hit, not a handset that is "good enough" as the competition. HTC and Samsung will be breathing down Nokia's neck with decent Windows Phones so the WP8 competition will be tight.

Nokia lacks a second choice to fall back on at present, unlike HTC or the ever dominant Samsung.

I do hope the new Lumias tip the balance for Nokia.

Yeah? Check out that video then look at the shots The Verge has up on their site. I'd consider it high end point and shoot quality. The fact it's on a cell phone is just...mind melting.

I think it is overhyped and I'm a fan of WP8. It's just kind of chunky and those colors and plastic kind of feel like old Tonka toys. I'll take the camera with a grain of salt, I'm already wounded from all the reviews saying how incredible the iphones camera was and I've got an entire 2gb of iphone pics of my baby which I can't print because they look like crap. I learned my lesson to rely on a cell phone for pics, I use mine and appreciate it because a cell phone is better than no camera, but if I can plan ahead I don't touch it for pictures.

i dont get the lumina love affair. it seems clunky and not elegant....i can think of many droad phones id rather have formwise over it

They rated the camera overall as an 8/10...same as the iPhone 5...

Sure, it has great low-light performance and image stabilization, but is that worth the thickness and heft of the device? If you're a camera geek, maybe, but for most of us probably not.

3 months ago, thickness and heft were all the rave with iPhone users. Keep following the company line, Apple loves people like you.

It's still thinner and lighter than most point and shoots were not even 2 years ago. Has everyone in the whole world been stricken with noodly arms over the last couple or something? What was thin, light, and sleek back then is suddenly "IT'S A BRICK THAT WEIGHS, LIKE, OVER A QUARTER OF A POUND! I CAN'T CARRY THAT AROUND WITHOUT SPENDING YEARS LIFTING WEIGHTS! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING".

Apple drones only complain about thickness and weight after the introduction of the iPhone 5. Before when all these drones had was the 4/4s, anything that was light or thin was cheap.

Holding a phone is never a workout, it's a comfort thing. Thicker phones look out of place in our current thin era. Chill.

Yeah. Tell me about it. "It has a comfortable heft due to the high quality materials used in it's production". Of course now that it's thin and light, anything that weighs more than 80 grams is suddenly like carrying an anvil around in your pocket.

It's like when I had my Blackberry Storm (...you wanna talk about a bad phone, btw...), one of the biggest complaints I heard about it was how heavy it was. You'd see people on Apple forums talking about how RIM doesn't get it because it's too heavy and blah blah blah. When I got my iPhone 4, I was expecting to weigh half as much.

It didn't. It was almost the exact same weight.

...and no one said a word.

You seem impossible to reason with. Take the Apple-hating lenses off and be realistic. Thin and light phones are more comfortable to hold then thick and heavy phones.

What I find funny is the reasons why the new iPhone is lighter than the old ones. They were aluminum coated in glass, and people ate that up. "It makes the phone feel higher quality, blah blah blah". Of course it also made them easy to break and added a goodly bit of weight, but mention that to certain people, and suddenly you're wearing "Apple-hating lenses"...not to paraphrase anyone or anything.

Now we've got an iPhone that isn't coated in glass, and...BAM! Suddenly everyone is raving about it's light weight and extra durability. "olol", they'd chortle, "look at the Galaxy S3 crack, cuz it's made out of super cheapo plastic". You mean like how the 4S would shatter like...well...glass from being dropped at half that height, but that was alright because people liked the way the smooth coating felt in their hands? "Apple devices feel high quality", they'd say, "just enjoy the way it feels, and don't drop your phone".

But now that...well...you get it. Some people will go out of their way to defend everything Apple does, up to and including contradicting themselves every chance they get.

It's one of the best smartphones on the market today, I don't think it has "too much hype".
