Ok, I know how to rearrange my folders and files, but it seems like there aren't enough options.

I want to arrange everything in my folder by: Type (without the lines between them), name, and snap to grid. So when I put something in a folder, the file will automatically go with files of its type, alphabetize itself, and snap to grid.

Is that possible?

AND, how do I set it like that for everything on the whole computer?

I have Mountain Lion on a new MacBook Air.

Thank you so much!

Multiple criteria are not possible. You're stuck with however they get arranged with Type. I thought that would alphabetize them within the types. No? When arranged by Type, icons should be in a grid. Aren't they?

I think making it like this works:

Arrange by: None
Sort by: Kind

If they are sorted, they go in a grid. And I think they are alphabetized automatically.

Thanks. We'll see. :)
