What are the top 10 things that you use your Mac for? It doesn't have to be in order of most you use it for most frequently. I don't mean your top 10 apps. I mean the activities that you do with your Mac.

Here's what I use it for most often:
  1. Surf the web
  2. Play games
  3. Watch the GSL
  4. Participate in forums
  5. Homework
  6. watch TV
  7. Download movies
  8. Organize my music library
  9. Find location/number of a business
  10. Buy stuff online

I don't have a smartphone so I can't answer about "activities that you do with your phone".

I use my iMac for building and designing websites mainly and after that surfing the web and watching TV.

I HUNGER
1. Use it to watch TV shows and Movies
2. Surf the web
3. Write
4. Stream TV and movies Hulu etc.
5. Photos
6. create educational documents
7. iTunes - educational videos and music management
8. minor photoshop and video editing
9. emails
10. Skype/ichat

I used to do heavy video editing with FCP but no longer. Although I still use it on my laptop but now just for basic editing - It's much quicker than using that PITA iMovie.

I'm getting the better 27 just because the price difference is so minimal and will install my own ram up to 16 although 8 will probably do.

With my hackintosh and MBP:

1. Music Production
2. Sound editing
3. A lot of photo and image development
4. Web design and development
5. 3D rendering for logo's and animation shorts
6. Video creation
7. Surf & use the web
8. Listen to music
9. Programming
10. Gaming

It'd be nice to get an iMac which can handle this but the 27" + BTO price premium is daft. I'd need at least 3TB HD space, with another 3TB for backup and lol at the price of TB atm.

I still find everything else easier to do on windows machine (gaming, torrents, videos, music, etc...) Is it bad I have made 10+ iOS apps on this machine and I still don’t know how to efficiently use the file system? lol

I use my 27" iMac and 15" MBP interchangeably (they both have the same apps installed) depending on if I'm at home or away. Uses, in no particular order:
  1. Web browsing, MacRumors and various reference sites.
  2. Email
  3. Video recording of lectures (both via screen capture and using the camera or external camera)
  4. Writing
  5. Preparing illustrations
  6. Photographic image processing
  7. Personal Finances
  8. Programming (not XCode but Java and QT)
  9. Schematic capture and circuit board layout
  10. Digital system design, simulation, and FPGA synthesis

I'm sure there is more. I don't use them for music or video (I've got other systems for that) and don't play games.
