Hi,

Just installed a Samsung 830 Series 256gb ssd into my late 2009 Imac. I used an Icy Dock 2.5 3.5 convertor.

I then tried a fresh install of Snow Leopard which failed because it fails to find the SSD. Disk Utility doesnt see it. I even tried to install Windows 7...also no luck.
I tried it without the Icy Dock convertor to no avail.

I just popped the old Seagate back in and this works fine, which precludes any kind of damage being done whilst opening and closing the Imac.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Does anyone have any ideas what the matter is?

regards, Guy

I had the SSD formatted through someone else's computer and it was detected when I put it back in mine...

I think I'll do the external drive enclosure to get it formatted and then do the swap. Sounds kind of risky to put it in and then try to format it.
