I'm a firm believer in using a case and screen protector. here's why:
Iphone 4s 64GB bought for $399.
Traded in for $380.
Iphone 5 cost me $19, essentially.
There's no way you could get a "like new" trade in deal from a barebacked iphone.
Totally worth it to me to keep it in a case.
I have yet to use a case, just a vinyl wrap around the antenna. Did this for my 4 as well and had no damage. Just have to be careful.

I really want my iPhone 5 to be naked, it looks so much nicer and it takes advantage of the actual weight of the phone. Anyone who has no case and is completely fine with it?
I'm very very careful.Yes there is a way. I sold my iPhone 4S on Gazelle for $380 and it was never in a case and it was in perfect condition. My iPhone 5 is naked as well and no problems. You just have to be careful with it.

So... you actually disassembled the phone and put vinyl wrap around the antenna? Why?
I have a clear case on mine. You can see it in all it's beauty but stays scratch free
I didn't disassemble the phone, its just a wrap around the phone for texture...
Yes... but you said you put the wrap around the antenna. The antenna is inside the phone. Why would you take apart the phone and wrap stickers around the antenna?
The band around the phone. It's the antenna...
Yep.... on the 4 and 4S. NOT on the iPhone 5.
EDIT: What do you think the little glass windows on the top and bottom of the iPhone 5 are for? The back is metal except for those 2 spots... that is to allow cellular signals to be received.
You know what he meant give him a break
It started out as a joke. He said he wrapped the carbon fiber around his antenna... so I teased him about disassembling his phone. But then I realized that he did not know the difference in iPhone 4/4s and iPhone 5 design... so at this point I am merely educating him... not giving him a hard time.
Anyone with no case and completely fine with it either accepts inevitable wear and tear on their phone, or they have altered their carry habits that place the phone on a pedestal, coddling it as though it were a Fabergé Egg.
My black iPhone 5 is naked and already has a few battle scars and looks badass.
