Does anyone here work at Best Buy and have valid information as to why the 4th gen LTE iPads a listed for Verizon as "coming soon" but not the AT&T version? I'm assuming they are going to carry both.

I've got my store credit for my returned iPad 3 and I'm eagerly waiting to get the new one.

I am also in this same boat. I decided I want to have the LTE capabilities so I am going to return my wifi only mini today and wait for the LTE version.

I called this morning to my local Best Buy. They stated that they have not received a shipment yet on the cellular versions. I asked if they know when they will get them in she said that she doesn't know. She said something about the carriers needing to get them in first and then everyone else can sell them but she didn't seem to sure of this.

Ah, nevermind. The AT&T 4th gen LTE iPads showed up on Best Buy's web site today as "Coming Soon" (same as the Verizon models showed.)

I'm hoping they come in before Thanksgiving, as I'll be out of town at the Mother in law's the whole weekend, and I'd really like to have my new iPad to play with! :)

Think it's worth it to swap for a wifi? I do have a lte hotspot, but I'd bounce the sim back and forth.

That's great, but I specifically needed to know about Best Buy, as I returned my iPad 3 and have the funds from that on a BestBuy Store Credit card. So I can't use it elsewhere.

I just got back from Best Buy with my new 32 GB black 4th Gen iPad with wifi+cellular (AT&T.) The Best Buy page says "Coming Soon" but based on another thread, I called to see if they had any, and there were two.

Restoring from iPad 3 October 25 backup right now. :)

I've had no luck locating a AT&T 32g Mini where I live. I even gave Best Buy the SKU number for the Verizon model and they were out of those too. I caved in an ordered direct from Apple. I just don't have the patience to go store hopping and calling everyday either. I'll just wait until Apple can ship. I have to send my wifi model back but at least I had a chance to evaluate the mini. I still have my 3 I can use in the meantime, and a few more weeks won't matter. I got a ship date of Dec. 10.

I did the same with 64GB Black (VWZ). I called in to the store and just gave the person a SKU to look up. He came back and said they had it in the store. I asked if he could hold one, and he did. Went up a little while later and picked it up.

As another example of how clueless some of these employees at Best Buy are, the Apple Specialist in the black shirt proceeded to tell me that Best Buy isn't carrying AT&T iPad's in store anymore when I asked yesterday if they had received any of their expected iPad 4 cellular units yet. I just said, "OK" and walked away. I then went and asked another employee to look up the SKU of the 64GB White AT&T iPad 4 and they said they had 5+ on order and were expecting them any day.

Not all Best Buy Employees are bad, there are great ones out there too. I am not a Best Buy employee.

I just posted about getting my Black 64GB VWZ on Sunday. Well, on Sunday they did not show the SKU for the same in white in stock. My wife likes the white one, and was willing to wait (we both are moving from iPad 2's, so she still had an iPad to use).

Yesterday, I called the Best Buy closest to her work and gave the SKU for the White one. She looked it up, and did not see them as in stock at her store, but let me know there were 5 at another store (the one closer to our house where I got the black one). It was great of her to go the extra step to let me know where any were locally!

That is not where it ends though...

I called the BB near our house and got Katie on the phone. Katie really took it up a notch. She looked and saw that they did indeed show 5 as in stock (I also know Monday is a truck day for them). I am not sure if they were on the BB truck or came via UPS/FedEx. Either way, they were not in the normal stocked location for the iPads. She came back and let me know that she did not find them where they should be, and that she would check in the receiving area. She offered to call back or that I could stay on hold. I was working at my desk, so hold was fine for me. It took about 50 minutes on the phone, but she did locate it in receiving and put it on hold for my wife to pick up.

Later when my wife picked it up, she heard the truck they got in had 10,000 items on it for Black Friday prep.

This is a great example of two BB employees going above and beyond. Just thought I would share...

----------

Y2J,

I know I described a great BB experience above, but also have had the same experience you described as well...

Luck of the draw!

I called the BB here in Tallahassee and the lady on the other end was very gracious and went to verify, pull, and hold it for me. Any shop can have bad employees or good employees.
