Today I finally picked up LTE in DC. I was going to switch to Verizon because Sprint's data network is totally useless making their unlimited data equally useless. But today I got LTE and my 3G actually touched 1.0 MB download compared to the usual 0.05 MB. Sprint can maybe make a come back in the DMV area cause so many of my friends and family switched to another carrier for higher bills but better service. If I can get 20MB (LTE) and 1.0MB(3G) with an unlimited data plan I'm staying with Sprint.

First time I see someone saying Sprint's 3G improved.

That's why I came in to take a look.

won't stay like that for long, towers will get congested then it will be back to regular. I say if you're gonna make the switch do it now while you can.

Maybe they improved & added more towers post-Sandy... May account for the (slight) increase in speeds.

No sprint has been planning this network vision upgrade for months. That's why I rolled the dice and stayed with them so I can get unlimited, FAST and CHEAP service .

Where in DC did you get LTE coverage? I am getting sick of being screwed by AT&T and am out of contract so Sprint, if they get there network in order, is looking like an option.

Really unnecessary for most day to day things. Email will load on 3Mbps as it will on 41.79 Mbps in just about the same time. I'd rather have 20Mbps speeds (anything more than 8 Mbps is good enough IMO) with unlimited data than 40Mbps capped data.

That being said, I've got AT&T since they're cheaper for me.

LOL

sprint has a lot less user base.. and an even smaller % of users with LTE phones....

to say it wont stay that way long is naive.

In the year (well almost 11.5 months) that ATT has had LTE on here in Austin.. my connection hasnt slowed down ANY.

In the last 16 months my verizon LTE has only slowed down about 5 mbps.

Sprint LTE in a major US City, in fact the most important city won't slow down:confused::confused::confused: it is that fast because they just turned it on, over time those speeds will become slower, even if minor like 1-2 mbps.

Verizons LTE is extremely slow now, compared to what it used to be last year. Im lucky to see 10mbps now. Its usually around 5. And im in Los Angeles.

Tyson, You dont know what you're talking about, and trolled on my thread as well. ANY NEW NETWORK WILL BECOME SATURATED WHEN IT GETS AN INFLUX OF USERS. PERIOD. Do I think speeds will crawl down to 1-2mbps? No, I dont. Data travels faster which mean less congestion. But will it slow down some? Yes, ofcourse. Depending on the area and traffic, it happens to every network. Sprints LTE network is good, and they have a $20 BILLION cash influx AND Softbank aiding in their network builds. Sprint will be just fine.

Hopefully Sprint isn't lying when they say they are improving their network in major cities by 2013. SF has HORRID 3G and no LTE yet.

I dont think their LTE network will slow down to 3mb but I do believe they will go to tiered data once they have more cities with LTE. I spent 15 years as a Sprint customer and they have changed alot of things to mirror Verizon and ATT...in the next 14 months...UNLIMITED will be gone IMO

Haha, what a joke. I guess for those on Sprint, those speeds are acceptable

50MB download vs 20MB download on a cell phone is no difference in performance. Now if I'm playing call of duty on 10 Xboxs at that same time maybe I will need the 50MB. But I'll take my unlimited 20mb plan vs your 50mb capped tiered shared plan any day.
