Im looking for some help as well, when I have my mac hooked up to my thunderbolt display, how can I set it so when I close the lid it continues to work with an external keyboard and mouse?

Thanks Guys!

I recently purchased a Twelve South BookArc, and they have a video on their website (In the FAQ section) that shows how to use a MacBook while closed in the stand (When connected directly to a monitor).
I use mine in Screen Sharing mode to display my MacBook Air screen on my iMac display when necessary. In this case, I had to use a program called InsomniaX. It allows you to disable the sleep function when the lid is closed.

My 27" 2011 iMac with Thunderbolt Display and 24" Acer B243HL monitor (Which will be replaced by an updated Thunderbolt Display whenever they are released). They are mounted on a stacked Boa II and Boa from Monitors in Motion (Thanks to dubaimac for bringing these great arms to my attention). I placed a Twelve South BookArc behind the iMac so I could display my MacBook Air's screen in Screen Sharing mode as necessary while utilizing the Thunderbolt Display's MagSafe cable. The desk is a Raxxess ACD 42-56B, with RB-60B bridge and KBS-2B keyboard tray.

Would someone be able to measure for me the distance from tabletop to the bottom of the thunderbolt display. . I am considering buying the TBD but I would like to make sure I still have room to put my Altec speakers underneath..

pictures are so deceiving. you really lose a sense of the massive amount of space multiple 27 inch monitors take up. it doesnt look that big in the pictures however if you actually measure out 3 27inch monitors its massive. I salute all the people who managed to fit 3 27 inch displays on one desk. that would span across the entire wall of my room.

How do you find the new 27" iMac's screen compares with the Thunderbolt Display? Can you give us a quick rundown of the differences you notice in day-to-day use?

ok well first i dont notice any difference in picture quality whatsoever, their both awesome when set to the highest resoloution, only thing i noticed is that the imac can go a little brighter if you turn the brightness all the way up...Now however it definately does have less glare which is a huge plus and if you look real real close you can see how the imacs display is laminated to the display whereas the tb has the gap in the display, this gives it a slightly crisper look and i emphasize slightly, if your really really looking for differences...other than that their both pretty dead on as far as picture quality goes.

Hope this counts! :)

Here is my MacBook 17" with a 27" Crossover 27Q-P. The screen is basically one that apple rejected and then put in new housing and sold on.

The good thing about this monitor is that it rotates 90 degree to portrait which is handy for my work

I like the black frame on that monitor. Very nice.

So, I returned from my 6 month stay in Madrid, Spain. I'm back home in my beloved apartment (Amsterdam). I, therefore, purchased myself a new desk. A very nice teak oak table. Treated with some oil for good protection and it'll be good for years to come! Expensive but worth it ( I hope.. )

What do you see?

- 15" MacBook Pro Retina 2.6Ghz, 8GB RAM , 512GB SSD.
- 27" Thunderbolt Display
- Hercules XPS101 Speakers
- Magic Trackpad & Apple Wireless Keyboard
- iPad Mini 32GB Wifi White
- iPhone 5 32Gb White
- Rain mStand
- Desk (160cm x 90 cm)

What you don't see?

- Airport Expresses
- Time Capsule 2TB

Pictures taken with the iPhone and with the iPad Mini.

Previously, I had this setup. (I hated the need for constant cleaning of the damned glass!)

Where did you purchase your monitor? Is it a matte (non glossy) screen? Thanks
