It most likely is just created by the art department and is not an actual software title, as you can see the Dock has many applications Dexter will never use and has no specialised applications for his line of work in it.

Isn't there a way to get widget added to the Dock? I'm not a Dashboard user either.

Not sure this is the app Dexter is using, but there's a program called "ShredIt X" that looks at least similar.

@forefun and @Egidio You are both on the right track. That is indeed the widget he is using and yes there is a way to get widgets on your desktop.

Here's a walk-through on doing both I created: http://aaroncavano.com/blog/

Now you can be like DEX!

I couldn't get it in the Dock. It is still cool on the desktop, especially with sound on (toggle with "s").

Is there any way to get it into the dock? Or does this hack just allow it to sit on the desktop?

Unfortunately there is no way to get it in the dock. I put mine in the lower right-hand corner of my screen right next to the trash can and it doesn't get in the way at all.

I clicked on step 1 to download the widget and then step 2 to run the terminal. I then restarted my macbook pro. I see the shredder when i bring up the widgets but cannot get it to stay on the deskstop even if i i hold fn+f12....any ideas?

I wonder if the latest Snow Leopard update changed something. The shredder was not working after the update. I reloaded the widget but it's still not working. Anyone else having the same problem?
