I definitely disagree about midday being the best time to shoot panoramas. Early and late is best for almost all landscape type pictures.

Iphone Panorama

Took this yesterday at the Natural History Museum with the phone as I had no kit with me.....the pano feature works ok......had to half the file size as its 16mb and this is unprocessed.

I can't speak for Designer Dale, but one trick is to not use a circular polarizer, the use of which will increase the change in brightness across the sky.

Actually, nothing. In this case, the photos are facing away from the sun, which of course always helps. But if you look far right of my pano, the sky is definitely lighter. Hard to avoid.
