You're buying for a single game? A game which most reviews have said could have been done on a Wii in terms of concept, it just has slightly better graphics? I personally wouldn't pay £300+ for that...
Each to their own I guess!
I would!
I won't go into all the excruciating details of my reasoning, but I figure that my time is valuable, and better spent playing the best games, rather than just so-so games.
If I buy each console, but only the top games for each one, I'll be much better off gaming-wise than just restricting myself to one console.
Concrete example: at US$300, the Wii U costs the equivalent of five US$60 games. Let's use that US$300 as a planning figure for the cost of a new, next-gen system (systems do get cheaper with age) and US$60 for the cost of a new game (again, games get cheaper with age)...I could buy ten games for $600, or I could buy a different console and the "best" games for the same amount of money (or wait and buy stuff later cheaper).
It used to be more important "back in the day" (early 1990's) to have multiple consoles, as the first party games only available on a single console were much more common. These days, with the costs of production so high, game companies have to try to publish on as many consoles as possible.
Today, I can find I can get by with a PC and a Nintendo, and not really miss much (if any) of the rest. I do occasionally itch for a Vita, but, I have a lot of work, and a huge game backlog already...

Watch this... ZombiU extended gameplay / hands on.
I just watched it. Despite the games obvious clipping issues, it really does look fresh and interesting and screaming with atmosphere. (Unlike the recent resident evil 6)

I think in future all reviews should just be 1 hour playthroughs like this because it tells you more about the game, its shortcomings and the gameplay than any review actually does and at the end of the day the review score is only someone else's subjective opinion. Watching extended gameplay like this you can judge whether it interests you or not.
I agree with you. In general, I find most reviews to be very superficial, and I'm not at all convinced the reviewer actually played the thing for any length of time.
I'm finding gameplay footage on YouTube to be much more informative.
The other issue is that the Wii U gamepad really is a new technology, and I'm not sure we have really all "come to grips with it" (really, really bad pun, sorry) in terms of understanding how to use it and integrate it into our gaming.
ZombieU looks like another game I wasn't interested in initially, but as I play around with the Wii U more, I'm getting more into the concept. It seems clear that Ubisoft is way ahead of most other game developers in having a vision for the Wii U.
If anybody uses the Pro Pad, let me know what that is like!
