Think of it like this...
Bastion is an Action RPG. It's gameplay relies more finger wiggling and split second timing, which isn't the best fit for touch based controls. The Baldur's Gate games play more like an RTS, like Command 'n Conquer or Starcraft II. It's all point 'n click.
Like if you're in a battle, you click on one of your guys, select melee or a spell to use, select on the enemy you want to attack, then watch your guy execute the commands you gave him. If you want, you can pause the game, and start issuing orders to all your guys individually, which they all execute at once when you unpause the game.
Primarily mouse driven interfaces, which is what BG is, translate well to touchscreen devices. You might have to move your hand around a little more, but it's relatively simple to come to terms with.
