If's HSPA+ then why not just go with a Nexus 4 for half the money?
Well informed!

If this is true, then that pretty much confirms T-Mobile is probably getting the iPhone 5 next week. Apple probably wants to get as many sales in as possible before the pre-paid carriers get their models of unlocked.
I've always wondered this, but why are unlocked or off contract smartphones more expensive than iPad/tablets?
~270$ saved

Apple gets paid either way.
Those of you complaining that it's expensive for an unlocked iPhone, it's really not. Every other major unlocked smartphone is just as expensive. Look at the Galaxy S3, an unlocked 16GB starts at $599. $50 more than a 16GB iPhone 5.

My -only- gripe w/ Straight-Talk right now is their lack of any sort of tethering option.
What network does straight talk use?

I don't think some people realize how expensive it is to design, build, distribute and support such advanced devices. There's tons of costs that need to be covered that you don't *see*.
If I were going the unlocked route, I'd rather wait for an iPhone with the 5's technology (LTE, larger screen) that only has one model and it works on all LTE bands worldwide. That will probably be one of the biggest features of the next iPhone.
I'm looking at the idiocy of the 64GB model. If anyone is paying almost $1K for a phone they really have lost all sense of reason. Especially when it's entirely a storage-based markup.
No thanks. I'll pay somebody on ebay a fraction of the cost and get it unlocked.
THIS! It works and costs 3-8 dollars. See large unlock thread.
