I posted a while ago about getting a new graphics card for the 2010 1x 6-core Mac Pro. The video card that came with it is the ATI 5870.

If I get this card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...-na&AID=10446076&PID=4169666&SID=1qy19mpp16jx

I can just plug and go right? I do not care about the boot menu. Do I need to do anything special to get it to work in Windows 8 (other than if it was a normal Windows based PC)?

The power supply in the Mac Pro will support that card right?

My apologies, I spent over $4K on this Mac Pro and I do not want to mess it up by doing this.

The power is fine - 2x6-pin and the memory is fine - 2Gb. Just use the existing power leads that were on your 5870 and enjoy the card.

EDIT : Oh, and use the free app called BootChamp if you need a nice tidy way of going from OSX into Windows.

I just use the Startup Disk area in the preferences. Will that still work?
