It's not just a tablet.
It's a full blown Windows machine
Then that makes it $1000, including the keyboard cover! With 4 hour battery life! And this is a big bucket of win, to you?!?

900 dollars for a tablet? LOL what a joke.
Rubbish.
A tablet that can do more things like a computer... sounds like a not-so-fail to me. .
Really?
All 200+ of the laptops we've ordered for our company here with extended batteries for the past 18 months have had between 5 (15" discrete GPU) and 10+ hours (integrated gpu - elitebook 25xx series with 9 cell battery) of battery life.
You can get HP laptops now with 24hrs + of battery life, if you're willing to sacrifice weight for additional battery.
Yeah, torrenting on the go is HUGE.
Seriously, give up already, MS has been irrelevant for over 10 years.
It's not so much a tablet, but a pc w/out a keyboard.
And I can guarantee you 90% of people who want this were waiting for the Pro.
I admit, RT is a joke, but this might be pretty sweet
Tell that to the 650,000,000 people using Windows 7. And throw in that many again for XP and Vista.
No you have to buy it separately unlike the RT version. Then again the Office RT version has its own share of limitations.
WTF? So it's basically an overpriced laptop.Microsoft announced pricing information on its Surface Pro tablet this morning. The tablet will cost $899 for the 64GB version and $999 for the 128GB version.
MS has sold 40 million copies of Windows 8 by this point. That's how many iPads Apple has sold in the last year. Not to mention the nearly half billion copies of Windows 7 that have been sold up to this point. Calling them irrelevant is pretty short sighted and ignorant.
The TV commercials does not make me wanna buy them, they do not show functionality, Apple commercials SHOW functionality.
I mean, in every Surface commercial you see people dancing or a keyboard attached to the tablet... ok... but you do not even see Microsoft Office running on them... NOTHING! So... "how does surfing the web looks like in a Surface?" who knows. That is why people are not buying it.
I just don't see why they used a Core i5 over the newest Atoms.
What real work besides watching videos, typing up documents, browsing the web, listening to music would the Surface Pro tablet do? The Atom accomplishes all these tasks.

Only 40 million copies?
Thats only double the normal sales rate of Windows. How is it not more than double? Windows 8 is the least expensive version of Windows that Microsoft has ever sold, and the company is practically giving it away via upgrade programs for Windows 7 PC buyers (with a $15 upgrade) and a web-based upgrader for Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 that costs just $40. Why havent more people upgraded?
40 million seems like a big number until you really look at the big picture.
It's a real computer. It does all the things a real computer can do. No compromises.
It might not do them well, but it can do them
