You have to wonder how many more production lanes they have for iPhone 5 vs iPhone 4S. The iPhone 4S was deployed slowly over regions. It was slow to achieve demand balance.

iPhone5 on the other hand achieved US S/D balance in about a month or two, and now it is being released to dozens of countries including CHINA!!

Do they have 4x the production lanes open?

no offense to anyone, but people in half these counties can't even AFFORD iPhone 5's.

Half of people in 'Merica' shouldn't be buying them either. I have friends who are unemployed and really shouldn't be buying any smartphone for that matter but they were the first ones in line buying iphone 5.

if we can buy things we don't really need or afford for that matter why cant other countries have that same luxury?

and some of those countries on that list are quite wealthy and have lower unemployment rates than america.

You didn't offend, you simply made your ignorance of the world clear.

The world is not CNN personal sound bites.

In every single country listed there are "haves" and "have nots." Just like in the US.

Those who can afford new technology will purchase it. Those who cannot, will not.

Fortunately for the people living in this list of countries, Apple knows there is a segment of the population who are more than capable of purchasing the latest Apple products.

Samsung can and will fork Android. For the sake of performance and market share. Samsung will be able to optimize their fork of Android for their specific hardware. No more one-size-fits-all with vanilla (pun intended) Android releases.

And Samsung's fork of Android will become the de facto standard that all developers will first code to. Because Samsung has beaten all other Android manufacturers into the dirt. The official Google Android releases, and all "official generic Android" Nexus devices, will become even more irrelevant. They'll be ignored by developers and consumers alike.

Good luck to Google in keeping up with that.

Heh heh, Google will have terrible heart burn if Samsung fork Android the way that Amzn did with Fire HD. Amzn took Android 4.0, using their own App store (Play store is Google property and Google has been using it as the weapon to make sure every Android vendor is in line with what they wish. No access to Play store mean the platform is useless unless you have your own app store) and then sell the search right to Microsoft Bing.. Once Samsung did that they would have burned the bridge with Google. For now, Samsung will want to have access to latest and greatest Android stuff so long as the improvement are meaningful. In a few years when the smartphone growth slow down, it will be a way for Samsung to make extra dollars on their phones..

Absolutely. Then get ready for S-Search, S-Maps, S-AppStore and S-Mobile-Advertising.

Google did all Samsung's work for them. But Samsung will enjoy the spoils.

It's coming. Google created this monster but won't be able to control it. Should be entertaining to watch.

if you seriously think people in these countries can't afford the iPhone then you should really consider that YOU AS AN AMERICAN ARE POOR OR DON'T MAKE ENOUGH MONEY.

The iPhone is nothing special it's just pricy but that's it and by the way why would they sell the phone in these countries in the first place if according to you people can't buy it? that's right YOU ARE BEING A JACKASS

Yup. Samsung will take the Android ball, run with it, and all Android developers will follow.
Leaving Google (and all other Android hardware makers) behind.

Google has messed up its devices. None of which seem to have a catchy design. They all look like bricks. Their latest 10.1" Tablet is a reference for how NOT to design a tablet. It's the Buick Rendevous of tablets.

LOL. Could have been worse. Could have been the Pontiac Aztek of tablets. :)
