Hi guys!

One question regarding home sharing in iTunes 11

I have a mac mini which is connected to my TV and hifi. I use it for Netflix and for listening to music from iTunes.

I also have a MacBook Pro which is used as my workstation and primary computer.

Now, it is often that I buy music iTunes on either of the two computers, but in the old iTunes 10 it was extremely easy to keep both music libraries ajour as there was an "IMPORT" button in the shared-sort-of-list in iTunes.

Can anybody tell me how to import music between the two computers in iTunes 11?

Many thanks in advance for any input you may have!¨

Christ!! I REALLY do not see those buttons.
And I do believe that I have the home sharing set to on since I can play songs on the 'counterpart' computers...

Here are my settings:

Its not on, trust me.

File>Home Sharing>Turn on Home Sharing

Make sure you do that for each computer you want to share with. There is a difference between the simple "share" (that you have now) and "home share".

I had it turned on at first. What resolved the issue was disabling home sharing and enabling it again on both machines!

MANY MANY thanks for your help!!!

So how does importing works on a computer that has "copy files to iTunes media folder" unchecked? Where does it import them to?

Thank you!

Many thanks to Matrix07 and Variant for explaining this.

But geez, could Apple have made this any more complicated? Sometimes I think that the iTunes development group has been infiltrated by MicroSoft borgs. Nothing else could explain the whole process of jump-down-turn-around-pick-a-bail-of-cotton, say-pretty-please-may-I, face east-southest and spit-in-the-wind that you have to go through.

I'm running version 12, and this still the issue. Home Sharing needs to be turned on for both computers.
