iPad mini Smart Cover issue?

This might just be because I'm a massive cheapskate - I've bought 2x 3rd party smart covers for my new iPad mini, both of which have an issue where the magnets are triggering the the iPad to click on and off when the smart cover is covering the screen (correctly) but also when the cover is round the back of the iPad!

Anyone else experienced this? Can anyone confirm 100% this doesn't happen with the official ones?
