The white Mercedes looks great but can you imagine a head of state, President or Prime Minister driving it? Or a billionaire business tycoon? The white Benz is more like something a young yuppie would drive... However, a real powerful person (like the leader of the most powerful country in the world); Can you imagine Obama being chauffeured in a car like that? I don't think so.

Driving that customized Benz would most likely get you pulled over faster by the cops of anything. It doesn't convey real authority.

Ok, maybe not Obama, but what about all the billionaire tycoons getting chauffeured around in White Maybachs? or the fact that we only see what they are chauffeured around in, not what they own personally, I highly, highly doubt they only drive black cars. And that Mercedes is worth well over 100k, so I wouldn't necessarily call it a young yuppies car.

And why would that get you pulled over? I dont get it...

White Maybach's still conveys power and status; anything Maybach does. I've just seen the majority of powerful people being chauffeured in black cars... although I'm sure some are in white cars...

I bought the black this time. My previous iPhone, was a white 4S. Prefer black because:

1. Dirt stuck between the screen and the edge of the iPhone is really hard to extract, much more noticeable on the white compared to the black.
2. Apps that do not have wide screen functionality on iPhone 5 just looks weirder to me on the white compared to the black.
3. Having come from the black iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4. I noticed on the white iPhone 4S I was more aware of the white borders in contrast to the black borders on my past iPhones. It short it was more of a distraction from the content on the screen. Now that I am back on black, I am noticeable less distracted by the phone itself and more absorbed in the content on the screen.

Hope that helps.

Picked white cuz it looked elegant and beautiful in the press shots, and didn't like the look of the black. Now that I have it, I think it looks like jewelry a bit, and really dig the black model. But I still think it's a great looking phone.

Picked black for two reasons,

1. In my opinion, the white looks too feminine.
2. The black one made me think of batman, therefor I had to buy it. Why you ask, I have no idea.

I'm actually a huge Batman fan, and am planning on switching my white iPhone with my mom's black (when she gets it). I guess after 2 white iPhones (iP4, iP5) I'm getting "sick of it" and want something new.

"Yes Mr. Wayne, it does come in black"

I chose the white iPhone 5, simply because it looks better, and because I didn't want to be a racist. :p Some people have very skivy personalities and humors in the Leicester, Coalville and Loughborough, UK areas...I had a black iPhone 4, and didn't really like it much because of a scratch or two. Although on my new iPhone 5, there is no scratches on it, I have it protected with an Otterbox Defender case and all is well.

The white Benz looks like it belongs to a racer/ricer that got his first high paying job....

I agree high class people don't customize their cars like that.

White for me because I have a bad case of OCD and cannot stand fingerprints.

A white phone and use of stylus whenever practicable solves the problem most of the time.

My teenage grandsons are appalled that I have a "girlie " phone. ;)

...
Look at Presidents and Prime Ministers; do they drive white cars? No, they always get chauffeured in black cars because it looks more "official" and "prestigious". I want to be taken seriously. Nothing looks more powerful than a black Benz or BMW...

In my country all government cars are white.
Big black Benzs and BMWs are the preferred cars of our gangsters.

Comparing the outlook of high end luxury cars to the iPhone 5 is kind of silly. That being said though, screw that. Someone super important should have an S65.. the ultimate waste of money. hahaha :p

I prefer the black because its less obtrusive. I like my iphone a lot, but I don't want it standing out on my desk like a statute. But hey, it's just a preference issue.

I just prefer the black option !

The apple specialist asked me why i also chose black to which my reply was "i prefer the lines and colour of the black version".

He then said to me, "if batman chose a phone it would be a black iphone 5"

Well i wasn't going to argue with him.

Each to their own.

White/Silver? Feminine?

Walls in my house and one of my cars is white, I don't feel feminine in them.
Most of the tools in my chest have a shiny raw silver metal color on them, certainly don't feel girly when working under my car, or house plumbing yesterday.

Trying very hard to compensate for the lack of something?

Wow take it easy. I said in my opinion, the white looks too feminine. In my opinion, and in reference to the iPhone. Work on all the cars and plumbing you want, just don't take your rage out on an opinion based post on the internet.

I live in the central valley of California where its very hot during the summers. Having a black iphone 4 prior to the 5, it would heat up extremely quick in any direct sunlight. So far the white 5 has been mostly cool to the touch even with direct sunlight on it.

Really you chose white because of sunlight? LOL!

I agree with the OP. I like the silver/white back and side but the white front face just screams girly. I've seen hundreds of iphones in peoples hands and 99.9999% of the white ones are owned by girls, just my observation.

Just FYI people, white has become the most popular color on cars worldwide. :) I believe it surpassed black this year. I read about it on an automotive site the other day.

I chose white because to me, white looks so... Premium. My iPhone matches my car too. White with chrome accents. Just has that premium look.

Oh and PS... I work with military and I see tons of Marines, Navy, Army and Air Force with white iPhones and they're far from 'girly' lol

Nice to see some BMW owners here :). I own a BMW F10 Cashmere Silver myself but I think it matches with my White iPhone 5.

White, because I don't think a phone is indicative of gender or sexuality, just a color and design preference.
