My roommate gave me his old iPhone 3g which has been out of contract for some time. He is an at&t customer, I am a Verizon.

I would like to unlock the iPhone so I can use it in Germany with the German carriers' sim.

Since I am not an At&t customer, will I be able to walk into their store and have it unlocked still?

Thank you

At the iPhone hacks section.
You can try AT&T but they might give you the runaround since you're not the original purchased owner and dont have or had an account with them.
I'd suggest to pay the $3-4 and get an imei unlock on ebay.
Its the same thing and will unlock it officially to work with any gsm carrier in the world.

Any particular seller you would recommend?
