If I get an unlocked iPhone 4S and then activate TMobile on it, assuming I'm in one of TMobiles reframed areas, will I have access to HSPA+?

AT&T has HSPA+ on 850 MHz and 1900 MHz
T-Mobile has it on 1700 Mhz and 1900 MHz.

The iPhone 4S has a Quad-band UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA
(800 850 900 1,900 2,100 MHz)

So theoretically you could hit it on T-Mobiles 1900 band, if the stars align.

All I know is that it supports HSPA up to 21 Mb/s downlink. The Nexus 4 for instance can reach up to 42 Mb/s down.

So, I'm still confused here -- will I be able to get HSPA+ speeds on my iPhone 4S if I'm in a major metro area and listed under T-Mobile's refarmed networks? I'm not asking about AT&T, and I'm not asking about Nexus, just iPhone 4S and T-Mobile

Yes. Your HSPA+ coverage may be spotty though. If you don't get an HSPA+ signal you will fall back to EDGE coverage.

Short answer: Yes, in a refarmed area you will have access to HSPA+ on a 4S.

It's something a lot of people have already done, and it's one of the main reasons that T-Mobile is refarming.

The answer to your question is 'NO' the iphone 4S does not support HSPA+
The iphone 5 does support HSPA+. Just go to the apple site and read the tech specs.

I just laugh at how misinformed people are on this site. The iPhone 4S DOES NOT support HSPA+ 21.1 mbps. It only supports HSPA 14.4 mbps down. The + indicates anything higher, like 21.1mpbs.

And yes, since the iPhone 4s has the 1900mhz band it will get 3G in areas where T-Mobile has the 1900mhz 3G turned on.
