So I have an unlocked iPhone 5 that I will be bringing back to the states to use with AT&T.

What is apple's policy on returns in this case? If my phone takes a dump on me would I be able to walk in an Apple store in the US and have them replace it for free?

From what I have seen from the MacBook Pro forums you will only be able to use AppleCare in the same country you bought your iPhone. For example if i bought my iPhone in the US and move to France I can only get my phone replaced/serviced if i went back to an american Apple store. This is what I have inferred so it may not be true. Sorry.

iPhones are not covered by Apple's international warranty. However, sometimes they forget to check the origin of your iPhone when you bring it to them for swapping, or they just don't care much.
