I am unable to shut down Mac OSX because of an application impossible to quit which i did not even request: Graphic Converter X. tried already command,tab,Q, and nothing. Pls help!

Not saying you aren't already, but make sure you are quitting out of applications instead of just closing the window. To quit out of an application click on the name of the application in the menu bar along the top and choose Quit. Look in the Dock for the application icon and see if there is a bluish white dot or black triangle under it meaning it is still active and running.
You can always shut down by pressing and holding the power button until your Mac shuts down.
