My dad sent me an iTunes birthday gift via eMail in October. I just now got around to redeeming it, so I copied/pasted the link to redeem into my web browser and after it launches iTunes and asks for my Apple ID password, it brings up the screen to redeem the code, but the code is in a red box and below it says "This code has already been redeemed." and clicking on the redeem button does nothing.

If I somehow forgot that I had redeemed this gift already, then wouldn't it appear in my iTunes library or available to download from the cloud? (it doesn't)
And selecting "Check for Available Downloads" doesn't reveal the gift either.

What should I do?

Was it a code for music or an app or money for the account ?

Can you see in your purchase history via iTunes when you redeemed the code ?

No. It isn't showing up in the purchase history. It wouldn't let me redeem the code because it says it has already been redeemed. Is there any remedy?

Do you have multiple accounts ?

Two options I can think of:
1) ask you dad if he "tested" the redeem code and actually used it himself ;)
2) check with Apple support on when the code was used and if they can reverse the transaction ...
