The dust has cleard, i am now using my new 5. I am using the lightning to 30 pin adapter cable (.2m), i bought from callGear at work to charge my phone when it has seen heavy use during the day.

When i plug in this "cheap" adapter the screen on the iPhone becomes very unresponsive. It charges but i am not able to use my phone while it is connected.

Has anyone else seen this from a non apple adapter.

It is possible that it just won't work because they didn't mimic the tech that is necessary.

Yes, it happened to a 5th gen iPod while using a generic adapter. I thought the iPod was defective so I had it replaced. Same thing happened with the new one so I switched back to the OEM adapter. No issues since.

I have had nothing but bad luck from non apple cable products. Either they don't work or fail prematurely.
