Acting like a girl is the right way to do. If he acts like a strong man, he won't get a deal with Chinese Communist Party.

True in a way ... but he looks more like he's interested in seducing the guy than doing business lol

It would be amazing if Apple could launch new products and services in India and China in the first wave right after announcements alongside US, Canada and the UK. Maybe these negotiations will get them closer to that goal.

Steve Jobs would never go to China, and that's why he built a great company people admire. He would not kowtow to evil power, not to mention that his good taste would not allow him to work with people who has no culture.

To break into the Chinese markets you'll need a "cheaper" iPhone . . . hence the news about a new iPhone to be released this year that is not an upgrade and made of plastic. I think its good business . . . regular Apple die-hards will still buy the premium phones, and with the cheaper phone they can tap into new markets and pull them into the iOS ecosystem. Once in the ecosystem, they'll make money with the app store and iTunes. Very simple really.

The big issue for Apple in China is NOT a cheaper iPhone. The issue is compatibility with China Mobile's unique TD-SCDMA digital cellular network; my guess is that Apple has been quietly testing iPhone 5's with a modified A6 SoC that directly supports TD-SCDMA, and as such a China Mobile-specific iPhone 5 will roll out some time in the Spring of 2013.

More a reflection of how you think than what Tim is thinking or planning.

Did Steve dress in a suit during such meet ups?

He showed up as CEO of Pixar at one of the televised Oscar award events in a formal tux.

The A6 SoC has nothing to do with the cellular protocol. The RF and baseband processing are done in other chips (Qualcomm's, et.al.)

Come on.. China Mobile is a nice addition if Apple can get them to pay up. But it is a way over exaggeration of the importance of China Mobile. China 3G market is very close to divided into 3 ways with China mobile in the lead. China mobile has been losing market share to China Unicom and China Telecom because of Iphone. Notice that China Mobile only has 37% of China 3G market at the end of 2012..So China Mobile's 37% market share is the "big issue" and more important than China Unicon and China telecom combined 63% market share? And there are at least 15-20M iphone user running on China mobile 2G network. China mobile need Apple pretty badly and if you go to any Chinese Iphone msg board, you can figure it out pretty easily..

In a note to investors, Evercore Partners analyst Rob Cihra said that he believes "China Mobile could be starting to need the iPhone more." He pointed out that China Mobile's 3G market share was down 7 percent year over year to end 2012 at 37 percent. The company's chief competitors, China Telecom and China Unicom, combined for a 7 percent gain to land at 63 percent.
"China Unicom alone has added nearly 2 million more 3G subs than China Mobile year-to-date despite being almost 1/3 the size, and overall share losses look to correlate with introduction of the iPhone in Mainland China," Cihra said in the note, which was obtained and first reported on by All Things Digital.

China Mobile doesnt even have 3G. China Unicom and China Telecom are the only 2 that provide 3G in China.

huh?

http://www.forbes.com/sites/greatsp...a-mobile-needs-to-wake-up-as-3g-growth-slows/

China Mobile reported the slowest growth in 3G additions in 19 months as only about 1.9 million subscribers opted to join the company’s 3G network in July, a sharp fall from over 2.8 million in 3G net adds posted in June.

This is in stark contrast to competitor China Unicom which continued its impressive 3G show by adding about 3.1 million 3G subscribers in July, the most any carrier has had this year in a month. For the first half of 2012, China Unicom led the 3G charts with about 17.5 million 3G net adds compared to China Mobile’s less than 16 million for the same period. Despite an overwhelmingly large subscriber base of close to 670 million, China Mobile is falling behind in the 3G race as smaller rivals such as China Unicom are getting aggressive with their 3G plans.

China Mobile does have a 3G network--it uses the unique TD-SCDMA digital cellular system, which was partially developed inside China.

In short, if you want real 3G speeds on China Mobile, you have to be TD-SCDMA compatible--and the iPhone 5 is not yet compatible. The other telecoms in China use GSM (and the iPhone 5 obviously supports that), but China Mobile is the last big telecom in China Apple wants to sell to.
