Apple becoming "Just Another Company" Slowly?

Anyway, do you have an opinion on this topic? And what exactly does "just another company" mean? I personally think they'll always have their "cool factor" but that isn't really synonymous with "best" with respect to anything. I like what they offer and I don't see myself changing anytime soon. It could happen, no doubt, but I can't see it right now.
I think most people leave the iPhone because they are bored with it--not because it stops working for them. I've noticed that some of the reviewers have seemingly been taken with "new toy syndrome" in which the novelty of a new thing kinda overwhelms their analysis.
I would say that Jelly Bean is a pretty awesome OS and Google did a great job. The problem for me is that it is still going into plastic phones with pitiful storage--16GB or even less. I also want timely OS updates. The Droid DNA might be top of the line right now, but in 9 months when everyone is raving about Key Lime Pie will it get an update? Maybe, maybe not.
I do think Apple needs to freshen iOS up--badly. If that isn't crystal clear to them at this point then I think the iPhone is in for a decline among some market segments.

I don't see Apple becoming "just another company" any time soon. I have thought about this though. With every single smash product launch, with every bit of market share they gain in whichever segment it might be (PCs, phones, etc.), they do lose a little bit of that unique, hip, "out of the ordinary", "cool" mystique they had. That's just the trade off you have to make when growing a company...you go from being that "cool" niche type company to being larger and more profitable.
However, in becoming larger and less "unique", they are also becoming a company that is more synonymous with making the best products in the world. You're right about that. They always release a flagship and then an upgraded one in a few months. Just pisses off and frustrates those who bought the earlier version. No wonder they are having lower sales these days. No one wants to buy a phone only for a new one that's better in every way to be released a few months later for the same price

You mean like every other tech company that has ever sold anything including Apple? Because Apple didn't just do that with the iPad 4?
When Apple replaces my phone next week I may just throw it up online and see what it fetches me, then go back to Android. It looks like the fruit is starting to rot.

iPad 4 is probably the first instance I've seen Apple do this. Correct me if I'm wrong. I've never seen them pull moves like Samsung or HTC

Apple usually waits at least a year or close to it with their mobile devices. If they release an iPhone 5S before June then I'll agree with you.
I think constantly releasing tweaks of flagships throughout the year actually hurts HTC. In addition to them not having a single streamlined device across all 4 carriers. They don't have any iconic device like Samsung has done with the GS3 because they confuse consumers with all their tweaks and slightly different "flagships" on every carrier. The One X+ is what the One X should have been in the first place and it should have been the same identical device on every carrier.
So what, they should just stand by and wait a whole year and allow every other company to overtake them just so some few people with a poor understanding of how the technology industry works don't feel so "cheated"?
Maybe not in the states, but the Norwegians really got shafted when they released the iPad something like eight or ten weeks before the release of the iPad 2. Now if that wasn't a dick move, I don't know what is...
I think the "problem" with smartphones today is that they're not specialised like they used to be. A company could easily release a music phone, then a camera phone a few months later and so on. Today, all phones are converging which means that when a company releases two high end phones - they're going to be so similar that they're not really attracting different crowds. And you can only go for so long before releasing something new.
My guess is we'll see a return of more specialised phones or the converging of two or more products, at least from companies like Samsung. There would be very little that would have to be done in order to combine a good pocket camera with a smartphone, just to take an example.
Don't forget the price drop of the first iPhone. Besides, Apple is king of doing the opposite. Look how long it took Apple to update the Macs and the iPhone 4

Good. It's what they should be doing. I'd be disappointed if they didn't. That article was retarded. Trying to say that everyone under 40 should use android because it's so much more sophisticated.
Anyway, why base your opinion of apple becoming "just another company" on the success or failure of one single product it makes?
