Is the built in screen protector for the Otterbox Defender removable and replaceable?

I don't see this talked about too much. I know that screen shields are usually considered disposable items that need to be changed after so much use.

So I am curious if I would have to buy a whole new $50 Otterbox case if I scratched the screen shield? Or is it super impervious to scratching?

It's attached to upper hard plastic shell so you would have to replace that part. It's just like the iPhone case. It's plastic so it can scratch. I have the white and grey on a white mini. The oem screen saver is not replaceable all by it self.

You might be able to buy or get Otterbox to send you just one half of the case.

I guess it doesn't get scratched that much because the cover around it has a good chunk of padding.
I have not seen shields sold separately, I do believe the rubber parts will wear out before you want to replace the screen shield.
