Simplemind looks decent, but the free version misses a few features of the premium version.

Freemind is java, so that looks a bit unpromising.

What mindmapping apps have you encountered that aren't bad?

MindNode is pretty good they have a free version (Lite) as well as premium version, and they have an iOS version as well. It's what I use.

Works great to help a client quickly visualize their ideas. Also works well in keeping me pointed in the right direction.

I like Novamind, but it's not free. You might also look into using iThoughts HD on the iPad (if you've got one) — it's pretty full-featured for what you pay.
