Edit/Udpate - I upgraded to the ATV3, and am still having the same issues. Purchased content from iTunes plays fine, my own media doesn't, except when it's connected to an Ethernet cord. The problem is, there is no Ethernet cord where I do my primary watching of the ATV. But since purchased content works fine, this leads me to believe it's not a wifi issue.
I've been searching and read some threads here and on the Apple forums about this issue, but can't figure out what the problem is. When I try to play movies/tv shows via WiFi, the only ones that load properly are those that I've purchased via iTunes. If I try to play files I've added myself via Home Sharing, they refuse to load. This tells me that it's not my WiFi speed, but I can't figure out what it is. I just restored my ATV 2, relaunched iTunes, tried Airplaying from my computer, iPhone, etc., but nothing works. If anyone has had this problem and been able to solve the issue, I would appreciate some help.
