Remember when Apple was the scrappy young start up that took on all the dull prudes at Microsoft? Seems like it was such a long time ago these days.

Apple's strong arm against developers is really sad. The only reason developers (including myself) even really support iOS is just because there is so much money in the platform. Someday things like this will come back to bite them.

One of our apps, "Gun & Ammo Collectors", is currently in extended review because it has guns in it. Yet the app is solely for 18+ users who wish to catalog and organize their guns, track their serial numbers, and input values and other personal details. We aren't pro-gun, we are pro-collectables... and guns just happen to fall into one of those categories.

Their QA department is so overzealous it's borderline ridiculous.

To be consistent

Apple needs to update iOS camera app so that it erased "forbidden" body parts on all pictures automatically.

The Next Web says Apple pulled the app because they received complaints of possible child nudity.

http://thenextweb.com/apple/2013/01/22/apple-pulls-500px-ios-apps/

The app was removed from the App Store for featuring pornographic images and material, a clear violation of our guidelines. We also received customer complaints about possible child pornography. We’ve asked the developer to put safeguards in place to prevent pornographic images and material in their app.

I will never understand the US hypocrisy regarding nudity, be it artistic or x-rated.

Take gaming as an example: Shoot people in the head, 12 year age rating. Exploding heads, maybe 15. One small nipple shown - 18 years. It's really ridiculous.

the US is quietly (and not so quietly) run by the Christian Right. Where nudity is taboo and graphic violence isn't.

Nope. Sometimes I think Apple is run my mormons or something, because they really don't like nudity or gaming.

uh, Mormans like nudity AND gaming, they just won't admit it! (and booze too)

A friend on Facebook always shares images from a semi-nude group. Personally I find the idea of showing ankles disgusting. How do I report this to Apple and have Facebook for iOS pulled?

Okay so you can download GTA & other games where you can kill and do all kinds of horrible things to people but when it comes to nudity or sex thats somehow totally unacceptable?

Something is wrong here.

Apple said "We’ve asked the developer to put safeguards in place to prevent pornographic images and material in their app."

And yet Apple sells an app on each and every iOS product that fails to prevent pornographic images: Safari.

These guys are friggin morons. Maybe all those years of keeping their mouth shut about their policies was to prevent their foot from entering.

Thanks for the lulz, guys. My guess is that Apple is going to just keep digging itself deeper into a hole.

Doesn't GTA have nudity? It's rated M.

Customer complaints. That's the key. It's like how if some pedestrian dies at a certain intersection because a car turning right on red hits him by accident, suddenly, there's no right on red allowed. Probably a stupid customer complaining to a stupid app reviewer.

In fact YouTube is one of the worst because it actually suggests porn for your to watch when you watch something G-Rated.

Yeah, every time I go on YouTube, it suggests naked people to me or "how to breast feed" or "most profane video games" even though I don't watch anything related to that except for sometimes things related to video games. I don't want that stuff appearing in my suggestions when others see my screen. And if I watch anything related to a video game, it also gives me tons of Minecraft crap, which is just plain annoying.

This is the exact reason why DailyMotion's iOS app is castrated.

I suppose they had to do the same.
